City of Birmingham Waterworks is a softcover booklet published by the City of Birmingham Waterworks department, printed by James Upton Limited of Barford Street, Birmingham, with photographs throughout credited to Purcell & Betts of Aston Road North, Birmingham.

The booklet opens with a short history of the undertaking's development, describing the existing works and sources of supply, including the Elan Valley aqueduct system. It includes a fold-out section and plan diagram showing the Elan aqueduct route, along with black and white photographic plates of reservoirs and waterworks buildings such as Aston Well, built in 1867.

The cover is pale card with a blue panel bearing the Birmingham coat of arms and "Forward" motto, with the title in red lettering. The cover shows a small ink or dirt mark near the top, light edge rubbing, and a crease near the lower corner. The spine shows some wear. Internally the pages appear clean on the sections shown, with the fold-out plan intact.
