Fortune is my Enemy by Richard Pape, published by Elek Books, London, in 1957. A hardback first printing year, as confirmed on the copyright page.

The story opens at Auschwitz, and the contents page lists chapters across three books, taking in episodes such as "An Interview with Hitler", "The Philadelphia Bridge" and "Pursuit". The rear panel of the jacket carries press quotes and a photograph relating to Pape's earlier book, Boldness be my Friend.

The dust jacket shows considerable wear, with tears and loss along the spine ends and corners, and fraying to the edges throughout the front and back panels. The spine panel itself remains legible, with the title and author clearly printed. Internally, the pages photographed show light age toning and a couple of small spots to the margins, with the text clear and complete on the leaves shown.
