Freeman's Black Country Folk - 1970 First Edition
Freeman's Black Country Folk, a Black Country Society publication from 1970, with a cover illustration of John Freeman taken from an old negative. The book gathers accounts of Black Country characters, including pieces on figures such as John Etheridge, Jacky Dingdong and others noted on the back cover. It was printed by Reliance Printing Works, Halesowen, and this is the first impression.
The front cover shows light surface marking and a small crease near the spine head, with the title and author printed in bold black type above the photographic cover image. The spine shows a little creasing and wear at the head. Pages are cream-toned, with clear black print and a contents list visible at the front. The back cover carries a short biographical note on John Freeman in plain black text on a white ground. Overall wear is consistent with handling of a paperback of this age.
