Introduction to the Literature of Europe Vol I - 1843 Second Edition, Original Cloth - Henry Hallam
Introduction to the Literature of Europe, in the Fifteenth, Sixteenth, and Seventeenth Centuries, by Henry Hallam, Volume I. Published in London by John Murray, Albemarle Street, 1843, this is the Second Edition, printed by A. Spottiswoode, New Street Square. The title page sets out the work's scope and notes the author's association with the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences in the French Institute. The text begins with Part I, on the literature of the fifteenth and first half of the sixteenth century.
The paper is age-toned with scattered foxing, visible as light brown spotting on the title page and elsewhere. One page shown has a torn corner. The boards are cloth-covered with a worn spine label, the gilt title now faded and difficult to read in places. The spine shows chipping and wear at the head and tail, with some fraying to the cloth along the edges and corners. The text block edges are foxed and uneven.
