Robert Louis Stevenson - Amy Cruse

Robert Louis Stevenson by Amy Cruse, published by George G. Harrap & Company, London, dated MCMXV (1915).

This is a green cloth hardback with a cover illustration of a castle silhouette against an orange and cream sky, with the title lettered in gilt beneath. The spine carries the title, author and publisher's name in gilt, along with a small decorative device. The title page confirms the book is illustrated with ten plates, one of which, a photograph of Swanston Cottage, is shown in the interior images.

The cloth shows wear at the spine ends and corners, with some fraying visible at the head and tail of the spine. The covers are rubbed in places, and the front cover design shows a little surface marking in the sky area. The title page and adjoining leaves show some browning and spotting, consistent with age.
