The Black Country by Harold Parsons is a paperback guide to the region, published by Robert Hale. The cover shows a photograph of a canal towpath and bridge, with the title in green lettering on a cream background.

This paperback edition dates from 1997, with the text first published in 1986 and reprinted in 1989. The author, a native of the Black Country and former editor of The Blackcountryman magazine, covers the area's towns, villages, landscape and industrial history across thirteen chapters.

The cover shows some wear to the corners and edges, with a small crease visible at the top corner of the front cover. The spine is intact with the title and author clearly legible. The back cover carries the blurb, ISBN and barcode. Internally, the pages photographed appear clean and the print is clear, set on white paper. There is a handwritten inscription dated Christmas 1996 on the title page.
