The Science of Gems - P. J. Fisher

The Science of Gems by P. J. Fisher, published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1966. The copyright page notes that the book was published in England under the title "Jewels", with Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 66-22665. This hardback features a cover illustration of an array of gemstones, minerals, and jewellery arranged on a black background, with the title and author in white and pale blue lettering. The spine carries a similar design with the title, author and publisher's name. The back cover includes a photograph of the author at a desk with a microscope, along with a short biographical note.

Internally, the book contains colour plates of gemstones with identifying captions, and black and white photographic illustrations, including microscope images comparing synthetic and natural stones.

The dust jacket shows wear at the spine ends and corners, with some creasing and a small tear visible at the top edge of the front panel. The boards beneath appear sound.
