Antique Maps - Douglas Gohm

Antique Maps by Douglas Gohm, published by Octopus Books in 1972. The subtitle reads "of Europe, the Americas, West Indies, Australasia, Africa, the Orient" and the book contains 167 map illustrations in colour and black and white, drawn from historic cartography covering Europe, the Americas, the Pacific and Asia.

The hardback has a glossy pictorial cover showing a map of Virginia and Maryland alongside celestial chart detail. The spine carries the title and author in red and black lettering on a white background, with the Octopus Books logo at the foot.

Wear is visible along the top edge of the front cover, with a small crease and light rubbing. The spine shows a short closed tear at the head. The sample interior spread shows cream paper with clear black and white map reproductions and accompanying captions, with no obvious staining or foxing on the pages shown.
