At the Court of the Borgia - Johann Burchard
At the Court of the Borgia is a Folio Society hardback from 1963, presenting an account of the reign of Pope Alexander VI, written by his Master of Ceremonies, Johann Burchard, edited and translated by Geoffrey Parker.
The book is bound in brown cloth boards with a gilt and coloured cover decoration to the front board, and matching gilt lettering and decorative panels to the spine, which reads "At the Court of the Borgia". The rear board is plain.
Internally, the text is printed on cream paper, with some light foxing visible to the preliminary pages, including the title page and a page of text with gilt-edged plates. A black and white illustration appears opposite the title page. The book includes maps and gravure illustrations within the text.
The boards show some light marking and a faint stain to the rear board. Overall wear is consistent with a book of this age, with the covers and spine showing light rubbing at the extremities.
