Brave Deeds of Youthful Heroes

Brave Deeds of Youthful Heroes, published by The Religious Tract Society, London. This is an illustrated hardback collection of tales of youthful bravery, with coloured frontispiece and further black and white illustrations within the text, including scenes such as "The Heroine of the Farne Islands" and an account featuring Elizabeth Zane.

The blue cloth cover carries a decorative pictorial design in gold, black and tan showing a group of figures, with the title lettered in gilt. The spine bears a matching gilt design of a crossed rifle and anchor. The cover shows general rubbing and soiling, with a small nick to the spine head and some marking to the rear board. The front hinge area shows some wear with a small tear visible at the inner margin.

The text pages are lightly toned, with some foxing spots visible in places, particularly near the front of the book. An ownership name, E Ascott, is handwritten on the front endpaper.
