British birds - F. O. Morris

British Birds by F. O. Morris, illustrated by A. F. Lydon and engraved by Benjamin Fawcett, with introduction by Tony Soper. This edition published by Peerage Books, London, reprinted 1985 from the 1981 Webb & Bower edition, itself drawn from the original work first published in 1850.

The book is bound in blue boards with gilt lettering to the spine, and the dust jacket carries colour plate illustrations of birds on the front and back panels, including an avocet and a chaffinch.

The dust jacket has a noticeable tear at the top corner on the front, with some loss and creasing visible. The spine panel shows shelfwear and a small sticker mark. Internally, the sample page shown has cream-toned paper with a hand-coloured plate of a chough and a raven facing a page of text, with no marks visible on the leaves photographed.
