The book is bound in red cloth with the title and author lettered in gilt on the spine. Inside, the text pages are cream-toned, with black and white photographic plates illustrating techniques such as icing and piping, along with accompanying diagrams and instructional text.

Externally, the covers show general handling wear with some surface marking and a small dark mark to the front board. The spine head shows a little wear with slight fraying at the top edge. The text block has visible foxing or discolouration along some page edges when viewed fanned open. The corners are lightly bumped. Overall it remains a solid, legible copy of this cookery and craft title.
