Casino Royale - Ian Fleming

Casino Royale by Ian Fleming, published by Pan Books, this being the sixth printing of the Great Pan paperback edition, dated 1960 on the copyright page (first published 1953 by Jonathan Cape).

The cover shows the familiar Great Pan artwork by Peff, depicting James Bond with a pistol alongside a woman in a pink dress, priced 2/6 to the lower left. The spine carries the title and author in gold on a tan background with the Pan logo and reference number G198. The back cover gives a blurb and quotes from the Sunday Times and Raymond Chandler, along with other Bond titles then available.

The text block has toned, aged paper typical of the period, with the page edges darkened. The copyright page lists the printing history clearly. There is some wear to the cover edges and corners, with light creasing and rubbing consistent with a paperback of this age, and a mark visible on the upper corner of the back cover.
