This hardback has its original black dust jacket, featuring a photographic portrait of Slim on the front with the title and author in orange lettering. The jacket shows considerable wear, with chipping and loss along the spine ends and corners, surface scuffing and spotting across the front image, and a small closed tear with a piece missing at the foot of the back panel. The spine lettering remains legible.

Internally, the paper is cream-toned with no significant marking visible on the opened text page shown. The front free endpaper carries a handwritten name, H.E. Chottle, along with a pencilled number. A pasted newspaper cutting appears on the facing page. The text pages appear complete in the sections photographed, with clear black print.
