Degas/Lautrec

Degas/Lautrec: Painters of Parisian Life, published by Tudor Publishing Company, New York, 1967. The spine credits Roberts as author, and the book was printed in Japan, with the Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 67-19842 shown on the copyright page.

The cover carries a gold-toned band with the title over a Degas ballet dancer illustration on the front and a Toulouse-Lautrec dance scene on the back. Inside, the book is illustrated throughout with colour plates alongside printed commentary and catalogue notes on individual works, including pieces such as Cirque Fernando: The Equestrienne, At the Moulin Rouge, and Jane Avril Leaving the Moulin Rouge.

The hardback covers show light edge wear and a touch of shine from handling, with the spine lettering still clear and legible. The page edges appear creamy with no visible staining in the opened spread, and the text and reproductions are sharp and well registered.
