East Midlands and the Peak
East Midlands and the Peak, number eight in the About Britain series, published by Collins for the Festival of Britain Office in 1951, with a portrait section by W. G. Hoskins and general editor Geoffrey Grigson.
The covers carry a relief map illustration, with the front showing Lincolnshire and the Wash and the back showing the Peak District and the East Midlands towns, printed in green, brown and red. The spine lists the title and Collins, with the number eight at the foot. The title page has a colour illustration of a canal scene with narrowboats and a factory chimney, signed by Sheila Robinson, and gives the price as 3/6 net. The contents page lists the portrait, tours and gazetteer sections with a list of photographers.
Wear includes rubbing and creasing to the cover edges and corners, with a small area of loss at the foot of the spine and surface marks and scuffing to the front and back covers.
