Ellie and the Butterfly Kitten - Gillian Lobel

Ellie and the Butterfly Kitten, written by Gillian Lobel and illustrated by Karin Littlewood, published by Orchard Books in 2000. A hardback picture book with watercolour-style cover illustration showing a girl holding a kitten, telling the story of Ellie and a lost kitten found with her Nanna while her mother is in hospital.

The cover shows notable wear, with scuffing and creasing to the corners and a small tear at the top of the spine. The spine panel is in pink and cream with the title and author printed clearly. Inside, there is a former library label and stamp on the title page recording acquisition details from Worcestershire County Council, dated 2001. A later page shows a purple paper leaf with remnants of tape and torn paper, suggesting a removed label or sticker. The sample text page viewed shows clear black print on white paper with a colour illustration, with no foxing visible. Overall this copy shows heavier handling wear consistent with past library use.
