Encyclopedia of Garden Plants and Flowers by Lance Hattatt is a comprehensive illustrated reference, arranged alphabetically by genus, with colour photographs and cultivation notes covering size, hardiness and flowering season for a wide range of trees, shrubs and perennials, including entries such as Abutilon, Agapanthus, Anemone, Betula, Chamaecyparis, Hamamelis and Hosta.

The dark green hardback cover has gilt lettering and a colour photograph panel to the front, with a section of blue tape visible at the top edge of the spine and some wear and lifting to the corners of the dust jacket. The spine shows a little rubbing. Internally the paper is clean and white, with clear colour reproduction on the sample pages shown and no foxing or marks apparent on those pages.
