Five Days in Hell by Jack Smyth, published by William Kimber and Co. Limited, first published 1956. This is the Kimber Pocket Edition paperback, priced at 2/6 net as printed on the cover. The back cover blurb sets out the author's account of the Battle of Arnhem and the First Airborne Division, describing his own experiences dropped with the division, his wounding, capture and later release in April 1945.

The cover illustration shows soldiers with a mortar and bridge scene, with the price tab in the corner. The spine shows the title and author in orange lettering on a dark ground.

Wear is considerable. The spine is heavily worn with loss of covering material at the head and tail, and the corners of the covers are rubbed and creased. The covers show scuffing, surface loss and tide-line type marks, particularly to the front. Page edges are tanned. Internal photographic plates are present, showing paratroopers and gliders over Arnhem.
