For Science and National Glory - Robert Ryal Miller

For Science and National Glory: The Spanish Scientific Expedition to America, 1862-1866, by Robert Ryal Miller, published by the University of Oklahoma Press in 1968. This is volume 55 in the American Exploration and Travel Series.

The hardback has a red and yellow pictorial dust jacket with a cover illustration of expedition members on the front. The copyright page states this is the first edition and gives the Library of Congress Catalog Card Number as 68-15676.

The jacket shows wear to the edges and corners, with rubbing and small areas of loss along the spine ends and corners, and some surface marks and discolouration on the covers. The spine panel remains legible. Internally, the paper shown is clean and white, with the text and illustrations printed clearly; the book includes reproductions of period sketches, such as a view of Chimborazo Peak in Ecuador.
