From Powder Monkey to Admiral - W. H. G. Kingston

From Powder Monkey to Admiral by W. H. G. Kingston, published by Blackie & Son Limited as part of their "Famous Books" series. This naval adventure story is presented in hardback with colour illustrations, including a cover illustration depicting a naval engagement and a frontispiece plate.

The front board retains its original pictorial dust wrapper design showing a ship under sail, with the title lettered in navy on cream and yellow panels. The spine repeats the illustration and carries the title, author and publisher imprint. The rear of the wrapper lists other titles from the same series.

Wear is visible at the top edge of the spine and front board, where the covering has chipped and frayed, exposing the board beneath. There is some soiling and discolouration to the paper. A printed bookplate for a Methodist Sunday School prize has been pasted to the front endpaper, and the original price of 2/6 net is printed on the rear flap. The text pages appear clean with standard typesetting.
