Hadrian's Wall - James Forde-Johnston
Hadrian's Wall by James Forde-Johnston, published by Book Club Associates, London, in 1977.
This hardback presents a study of Hadrian's Wall, illustrated throughout the sampled pages with colour photographs of forts, gateways and remains, including Chesters, Housesteads, Birdoswald and the Mithraic temple at Carrawburgh, alongside descriptive text covering the history and archaeology of the sites.
The book has a plain blue cloth cover with no dust jacket present, and the spine carries the author and title in gilt lettering on a green panel. The cover shows some light surface marking and a small stain to the front board. The spine cloth is slightly darkened in places. Internally, the pages photographed show clean white paper with sharp text and clear colour plates, with no foxing visible in the images shown.
