History of Painting - D'Espezel & Fosca
History of Painting by D'Espezel & Fosca, published by Oldbourne Press, London, in 1961. The copyright page notes it was produced by Editions Aimery Somogy of Paris. This large hardback traces painting from the Byzantine period to Picasso, with colour illustrations of works by artists including Turner and Constable alongside explanatory text.
The dust jacket is illustrated with a collage of circular painting details and the title in black lettering, with the spine giving the authors and publisher. The jacket shows tearing at the spine corner, with some loss and visible tape repair at the top edge. The rear of the jacket is plain and shows general handling wear with a crease near the top corner. The spine panel itself shows a small amount of wear at the head. Internally, the sample pages show clean white paper with sharp colour reproduction and no obvious marks.
