King Albert's Book

King Albert's Book is a tribute volume published by The Daily Telegraph in conjunction with The Daily Sketch, The Glasgow Herald and Hodder and Stoughton, compiled from contributions by representative men and women of the time in support of the Belgian king and people. The cream cloth cover bears a decorative border, laurel wreath, crown and monogram, with the title in black to the front and spine. A printer's device for Knight's Manufacturing Company Ltd appears within the book, alongside contributions and illustrated plates, including a reproduction of "Motherless" by Sir Luke Fildes.

The covers show scuffing, soiling and faint pencil marks, with some surface staining to the rear board. The spine lettering remains clear. Internally there is browning and discolouration to the early leaves, with a small closed tear to one page edge. A pencil note reading "2 plates 24 48 missing" appears on one of the preliminary leaves, indicating that two plates are absent from this copy.
