Lancashire & Yorkshire - Leo Walmsley
Lancashire & Yorkshire, number 9 in the About Britain series, with a portrait by Leo Walmsley and general editor Geoffrey Grigson. Published by Wm. Collins Sons & Co., Ltd. in 1951, with the series printed by Sun Printers Ltd. The front and back covers carry illustrated relief maps showing the North York Moors, the Wolds, and the Lancashire coast down to Manchester and Sheffield, produced by Geographical Projects Ltd.
The hardback covers show wear at the corners and spine ends, with some rubbing and a small crease visible at the top corner of the front board. The spine lettering remains legible. Internally the paper is lightly toned, consistent with its age, and includes a black and white photograph of pithead machinery in a Yorkshire coal mine along with accompanying text. The contents page lists a portrait section, tours, and a gazetteer, along with a list of photographers credited throughout the book.
