Methods of Book Design by Hugh Williamson, published by Oxford University Press in 1956. This is a hardback bound in orange cloth, with the title and author lettered in gilt on a grey panel on the spine. Diagrams and frontispiece are by Ralph Mabey, as noted on the title verso.

Internally the text is printed on cream paper, shown here with a chapter opening on the choice of type for text composition. Laid in with the book is a loose supplement to the 1960 edition of The Western Type Book, showing type specimens along with cut-out mask templates, a related extra rather than part of the original volume.

The covers show some light surface marking and a faint scuff to the rear board. The spine cloth has some fading toward the top edge. Corners show light wear. No major staining or damage is visible in the photographs.
