Mysteries of the Mummies

Mysteries of the Mummies, edited by Dr Rosalie David, tells the story of the Manchester University investigation into Egyptian mummies. Published by Book Club Associates in 1978, this hardback includes photographic plates documenting the examination process, including X-rays and scientific analysis of mummy 1770, alongside illustrations of Egyptian artefacts and temple reliefs.

The cover features a photograph of a reconstructed face alongside an image of researchers in surgical gowns examining a wrapped mummy. The back cover shows a canopic jar against a painted tomb background.

The dust jacket shows wear to the spine ends and corners, with some rubbing and a small closed tear visible at the top edge. The spine lettering remains clear and legible. Internally, the pages shown appear clean with sharp black and white photographic reproductions of temple reliefs. The boards beneath the jacket appear sound.
