Night & Horses & The Desert: An Anthology of Classical Arabic Literature, edited and introduced by Robert Irwin, is a hardback anthology of classical Arabic prose and poetry, published by Allen Lane The Penguin Press, Harmondsworth. The dust jacket features a cover illustration of a groom leading a white horse, taken from The Pascha's Pride by Alfred de Dreux.

The book runs to over 400 pages, arranged by period and theme, with sections on pagan poets, court culture, and wandering scholars among others, followed by a bibliography.

The dust jacket shows some wear at the spine ends and corners, with a small area of rubbing to the black surface near the top edge and a faint mark on the upper board. The spine panel remains legible with gilt lettering. Page edges appear clean and the text block is straight. Internally the paper is cream-toned with clear, well-set print, matching the sample page shown of Antara's poetry and the accompanying commentary sections.
