Silhouettes - Peggy Hickman
Silhouettes by Peggy Hickman, published by Cassell in 1968, forms number 13 in the Collectors' Pieces series of handbooks edited by John Bedford. The cover carries a colour illustration of a framed silhouette portrait against a cream background, with the series title and number banner above.
The book is a hardback with a card dust jacket. Inside, there is an inscription on the front free endpaper, dated New Year 1975, from Honoria Marsh to Lord St Aldwyn, thanking him for his help in 1974.
The text pages are printed in black on white stock, illustrated with monochrome photographs and engravings of silhouette portraits, trade labels and painted examples, with captions beneath each image.
The jacket shows wear to the edges and corners, with some creasing and a small closed tear visible near the top edge of the front panel. The spine panel is intact with the title, author and publisher clearly printed. The back cover lists the full series of titles.
