The Cardinal's Treasure by George W. Gillingham, first published in 1951. This is a hardback copy with the title and author's name lettered in gilt on the blue cloth cover. The spine is also lettered in gilt, matching the cover design.

The book retains its original dust jacket, though this is worn, with tears, chipping and loss along the edges and spine, and a crease running through the illustration. The jacket's front flap text and a mountain illustration with a sword are visible but the piece is fragile and incomplete at the edges.
