The First World War

The First World War: A Photographic History was published by Daily Express Publications and first published in 1933.

The book is bound in dark cloth boards with the title lettered in red on the front cover and spine, the spine also carrying a small red poppy motif. The front cover shows some scuffing and surface marking, with a small chip visible at the top corner. The back cover is similarly worn, with scattered scuff marks and a scrape near the lower edge. The spine shows light wear at head and tail.

Internally, the copyright page confirms the 1933 first publication date and lists the printers as Hazell, Watson and Viney. This page shows scattered light brown foxing spots across the sheet. The text pages shown are printed on plain white stock with black and white photographic plates and captions, including images relating to naval action, the Gallipoli landing, and the death of the Romanov family, with some light spotting and a small mark visible on one leaf.
