The Pilgrims' Way in South Africa - Dorothea Fairbridge

£15.49

The Pilgrims' Way in South Africa by Dorothea Fairbridge, published by Oxford University Press, Humphrey Milford, in 1928.

This hardback has a printed dust-jacket wrapped over the boards, with a colour cover illustration of a South African mountain landscape after R. Gwelo Goodman. The spine of the jacket carries the title and author, and the back panel lists other Oxford titles on South Africa and Rhodesia, dated October 1928. The book includes a colour frontispiece and photogravure plates from photographs by Lancelot Ussher, along with further black and white plates and text illustrations.

The dust-jacket shows notable wear, with chipping and small losses to the spine ends and corners, surface soiling, a closed tear at the top edge, and a crease across the front panel. The text block appears clean where visible, printed on plain paper. There is a handwritten inscription on the front endpaper, presented to Vera Scherleg from a Sunday School superintendent, with a date partly visible.
