Theory of Machines by Joseph Edward Shigley, published by McGraw Hill Book Company, Inc. in 1961. Part of the McGraw-Hill Series in Mechanical Engineering, covering kinematic and dynamic analysis of mechanisms in two parts.

The book is bound in grey cloth boards with a red and gilt panel to the front board reading the series title. The spine is red with gilt lettering, naming the author and title, with McGraw-Hill at the foot. The spine shows some wear at the head and tail, with slight fraying to the cloth.

The copyright page carries the Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 61-11153 and a Chesterfield College of Technology library stamp marked withdrawn. A shelf number, 56863, appears on the spine foot and rear board.

Internally, the text pages are cream coloured with clear black print, including diagrams and equations relating to gear theory. No significant foxing or staining is visible in the photographed pages. The boards show general handling wear consistent with age.
