Wing Leader - Johnnie' Johnson

Wing Leader by 'Johnnie' Johnson, with a foreword by Group Captain Douglas Bader, published by Chatto & Windus. The title page confirms it was first published September 1956 and reprinted that same month.

The dust jacket carries a cover illustration of Spitfires in flight against a blue sky and cloud, with the title and author in black lettering. The spine shows the title, foreword credit, and publisher's name.

The jacket itself is well worn, with heavy creasing, closed tears along the edges and corners, and loss at the spine ends and corners where the paper has chipped away. There is noticeable surface wear and small splits along the fold lines. The back panel shows a photograph of the author along with a short biographical note, and has further chipping and a mark near the lower edge. The text block edges show some browning. Internally, the pages photographed show cream paper with text in good order for the period, and a printed page showing light foxing at the edges.
