Bygone Bromsgrove - Alan Richards
Bygone Bromsgrove by Alan Richards, with additional material by the Rev. W. Awdry, Jonathan Briggs, John Burman, Bill Kings, Robert Pancheri, John Weston and Ronald Whatley, edited by John Foster. Published by The Bromsgrove Society, first issued as a Special Limited Edition in 1981 and reprinted in 1982. A paperback local history covering the town's past, illustrated with old photographs and prints, including the Hop Pole Inn on New Road.
The cover is in a rust-brown finish with black lettering and a cover illustration of the Hop Pole Inn with a horse-drawn coach. There is a small area of surface loss to the upper left of the front cover where the covering has lifted slightly. The spine carries the title in black type and remains square. The back cover gives a publisher's note and the original price.
Internally, the paper is cream-coloured with clear black print, and includes diagrams such as a page illustrating different types of nail. A loose newspaper cutting and map showing Charles II's escape route is included among the photographs.
