Great Libraries by Anthony Hobson, published in 1970 by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, in green cloth with gilt lettering and a decorative gilt border to the covers. The front board carries three inset illustrations: a decorated book binding, a painted library interior, and a photograph of shelved leather-bound volumes. Printed in England by D. H. Greaves Limited. SBN 297 000 99 3.

The contents cover a series of named libraries, including those at Verona, St Gall, Bamberg, Admont, Durham, Patmos, Cesena, the Vatican, Florence, Brussels and Seville, with text and illustrations, some in colour and some black and white, on white paper showing some light browning.

The dust jacket shows heavy wear, with substantial loss and tearing to the spine ends and corners, creases, and a small puncture mark to the rear panel. The spine of the book itself shows wear and rubbing. The boards show some marking.
