The Outing: A Story by Dylan Thomas, published by J. M. Dent & Sons, illustrated with a wraparound cover drawing of a stone bridge and valley landscape, together with a small decorative image inside the text. First published in this edition in 1971, reprinted in 1972 and 1974.

This slim paperback tells of an excursion by charabanc to Porthcawl, with dialogue between a group of characters including Mr Franklyn, Will Sentry and Noah Bowen.

The covers show creasing and a vertical crease line down the front, along with some edge and corner wear. A small closed tear is visible at the lower edge of the front cover. The back cover carries publisher's text and the original price of 30p, with some light surface wear. The pages photographed are cream in tone with clear, dark print, and a small line illustration of a teapot appears on one page.
